DSA through Performing Arts: Chinese Orchestra and Concert Band


All successful applicants under this DSA scheme will be allocated a Performing Arts CCA as their CCA. 

The Fuhua DSA-Sec Exercise focussing on Concert Band and Chinese Orchestra seeks to admit students who have display artistic potential, interest and motivation in Music, as well as positive personal dispositions and learning attitudes. Students who are admitted through this DSA are expected to participate actively in their allocated Performing Arts CCA. 

We are looking for Primary 6 students with the following qualities: 

  1. Character
    • Conduct Grade of 'Good' or better in Primary 5 and 6. 
  2. Participation in Music

Pre-requisiteAudition Requirement
Concert Band










  • Achievement / Awards at Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentations, or relevant instrumental skills in primary school bands, or, 
  • At least a Grade 2 Practical and Theory given by Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), or the equivalent standard from other examination boards (e.g. Trinity College of London; Yamaha Grade Examination System)
  • Shortlisted applicants will be required to play a piece of his/her choice. 
  • He/she will be instructed to send the music score to the interviewers before the commencement of the interview.






Chinese Orchestra














  • Relevant music certificates (where applicable), or, 
  • Supporting documents for music skills or drumming skills and CCA achievements, or, 
  • Experience in playing in Chinese Orchestra or ensemble, or, 
  • At least a Grade 2 Practical for string instruments (e.g. cello and double bass) and Theory given by Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), or the equivalent standard from other examination boards (e.g. Trinity College of London; Yamaha Grade Examination System)
  • Shortlisted applicants will be required to play a piece of his/her choice. 
  • He/she will also be given a piece of music to sight-read. 












Shortlisted applicants will be assessed through video conferencing. They will be assessed on both their demonstrated and potential abilities and qualities, through e-interviews and e-auditions.

During the e-auditions, applicants can use their own instrument or instruments from their primary school.
