Racial Harmony Week 2019
Racial Harmony Day (RHD) is celebrated annually in schools all over Singapore and it was no different here in Fuhua! This year’s theme for RHD is “The Singapore Connection” where we collectively reflect on our shared experiences and values as Singaporeans. To kick-off the week, we invited National Heritage Board (NHB) to give us a talk on Singapore's Multiculturalism. Students were also taken through a Cultural Experience Display where they learnt about Chinese Tea Appreciation, playing the Congkak and even had a Chapteh Challenge! Our Secondary One students also had Learning Journeys to places such as the Harmony in Diversity Gallery, the National Museum of Singapore as well as the Indian Heritage Centre. The Secondary Two students headed to the charming enclave of Tiong Bahru to learn about how common spaces around the neighbourhood serve an integral role in fostering a harmonious society. The week-long activities ended with a celebration of the school's diversity, with students and teachers coming to school dressed in their ethnic best! The week truly was a good reminder of the importance of social cohesion and racial harmony in Singapore!
